National Initiative on Undergraduate Science (NIUS) Chemistry Programme
Announcement – Batch XV (2018 – 2020)
Tentative Dates- December 23- 31, 2018
Applications are invited for NIUS (Chemistry) programme - Batch XV (2018 – 2020) from first year undergraduate students with chemistry as one of the subjects/paper [BSc / BS / BS-MS / MSc (integrated)] with minimum 60% marks or equivalent both in their Class X and Class XII examinations. First year students who have participated in the Olympiad Orientation cum Selection camp (OCSC) at HBCSE are encouraged to apply.
NIUS is a program of Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), TIFR for undergraduate students designed to provide extended nurture and guidance in different disciplines of science. In this programme, students attend multiple camps organized at, HBCSE, Mumbai.
The first camp exposure-cum-enrichment camp for batch XV will be organized, tentatively from December 23- 31, 2018.
This first camp aims at presenting vibrant academic exposure about chemistry to first year undergraduate students. The sessions at the camp will consist of theoretical and experimental sessions and workshops involving group activities. Researchers from various scientific institutions, chemical industries and college teachers across India will engage students with frontier and core areas of chemistry.
Subsequent camps focus on projects assigned to each student. The selection of students for subsequent camps will be based both, on the student’s abilities and interest as assessed in the first camp, and mentors' willingness and availability to guide the project/s.
Interested students should apply in prescribed format as given here. You can download and print the form or else write all the details as mentioned in the form on a plain paper. The hard copy of the form should reach HBCSE by October 26, 2018, 5 p.m.
An Application must include the following documents: (No e-mail applications)

Application form or its equivalent (on plain paper), duly filled.

Self-Attested copies of your std. X and std. XII mark sheets.

Two confidential assessment forms (send them in sealed and signed envelopes along with your application).

Bonafide certificate from your current educational institute.

Send your completed applications along with all the above mentioned documents to the following address to reach HBCSE, Mumbai on or before October 26, 2018.
Please write clearly “NIUS (Chemistry) 2018–2020” on the envelope.
